development talks
Development talks was created by DEVELOPMENT WORKS, a Cape Town based communications and research consultancy, to share ideas and provide a space for dialogue on social development issues.
In the view of DEVELOPMENT WORKS, development can be achieved through a multitude of ways. For the most part, however, there is a perception that there exists one standard formula when it comes to tackling issues of underdevelopment. Yet, most can agree that underdevelopment, as a concept, is quite complex. For, when we speak of underdevelopment we should not only refer to the economic impoverishment of a people, we must also consider the impact of socio-cultural, political and emotional impoverishment of the human spirit. Such is the mind-set which DEVELOPMENT WORKS chooses to follow in pursuing its goals in the area of development.
As a company which really strives to engage itself in the area of development in the most impacting of ways, DEVELOPMENT WORKS places great emphasis on the process of creativity believing that being resourceful and thinking beyond the box is essential to achieving success where development is concerned. Therefore, a fundamental part of ensuring development sustainability is in applying creative engagement. It is the strong conviction of DEVELOPMENT WORKS that an imaginative mind can by far produce the most astounding results and have the greatest impact. Armed with this philosophy, DEVELOPMENT WORKS endeavours to pursue solutions which are innovative, dynamic and impacting. And with this conviction serving as a guide and tool, DEVELOPMENT WORKS uses the vast and varying qualifications, talents and skills of a diverse, passionate and committed team to pursue these ends.
These very same qualities – of commitment and drive – which the team possesses permeate the projects and initiatives that the company pursues ensuring the satisfaction and growth of not only the team but of also the clients. For this reason, it is no wonder that the company continues to grow both in size and in magnitude as it continues to follow approaches which are both refreshing and relevant to development in South Africa.
